Nathan R. Jessep: "You don't want the truth because deep down in places you don't talk about at parties, you want me on that wall, you need me on that wall. We use words like honor, code, loyalty. We use these words as the backbone of a life spent defending something".
There are a few good men out there. In this crime drama, two soldiers are placed on trial for the murder of a young cadet. Their only hope is a lawyer in the army who lacks evidence of any kind. Now, he must pool in his resources if he is to solve the case and get the verdict in his favor. The law and military are complicated outside of the battlefield. This drama tells a tale of how the quest for justice is a long one, but totally worth it.
Jack Nicholson is a star act. Everything he does is exceptional. Again it was a very powerful performance and Tom crusie being the lead actor proved his worth aswell. Sometimes his looks and charm overtakes his ability as an actor but he has demonstrated his talent by this performance and shown how good an actor he is. Demi looked stunning in the white Naval Uniform. The movie was fast paced and well edited which kept one glued to it till the end. Kevin Bacon and the rest of the large ensemble of familiar faced young stars and veteran character actors aren’t given enough to do to stand out, but the leads get some great monologues to really show why they’re movie stars.
This Movie depicts how supreme power & unquestioned obedience leads to excess cruelty on name of manner & discipline even honest & dedicated officers aren't wiling to speak truth . Jack Nicholson is a star act. Everything he does is exceptional.
I must say its a pure cinematic delight for audiences to witness stellar performances, one of the best movie indeed. From script, screenplay, performances, direction movie is very brilliant & powerful, kudos to director & cast.
“You can’t handle the truth!” - one of the most iconic lines ever.
But on the serious note, If you love law movies: this movie provides quite a unique take. Probably Cruise’s best role (although there are many other worthy contenders) HOWEVER, What makes the movie is the charm, Whitt, and the sting of the truth about the military. Tom Cruise delivers a balanced act with others playing the supporting cast well. The court room drama inspired many versions.
Marines and code on trial. Hard-breathing and familiar, with wonderfully nasty Nicholson.- THE NY TIMES.
My Rating- 7/10
