Dr. King Schutlz- Normally, Monsieur Candie, I would say "Auf wiedersehen." But since what "auf wiedersehen" actually means is ''till I see you again", and since I never wish to see you again, to you sir, I say, goodbye.
"Tarantino-Gasm" I would say.
Quentin Tarantino is a genius when it comes to violent movie nobody could direct like him. Critics and reviewers often say that he uses too much violence in his movie but they forget to mention that how he uses an incredible concept with reliable characters even the bad guys in his movie would gain audience sympathy.
Django unchained is entirely different from 12 Years a Slave. Django Unchained has all of the Tarantino trademarks. There are recurring cast members, natural dialogue, drawn-out suspense, an amazing soundtrack, and a satisfying climax of bloody violence. The only thing missing is a scene involving feet. As the great Brad Pitt said, "Quentin has seperated more women from there shoes than the TSA".
Speaking about characters, what an amazing cast. Everyone including Jamie Foxx, Christoph Waltz, Leonardo DiCaprio, Kerry Washington, Samuel L Jackson, and many others deserve every reward and praise they get for this movie. Brutally hilarious and quite messy, but a total blast from start to finish!!
Surprisingly, Foxx takes a very long time settling into the leading role. Will Smith would still be regretting as to why he left the iconic role and the movie. But Foxx makes it his own, bringing a sense of style and grace that are virtually absent from the rest of the film. And of course, he gets all the best lines. And I just love watching Leonardo Di Caprio Act. I can watch him act all day long. That man is a genius. Whether he's playing a Cop, A Wall Street Millionaire or a Evil Slave owner, he kills it everytime.
Calvin Candie (LDC) is a sinister racist that passes his time by holding "Mandingo Fights". At Candieland all hell breaks loose when Django returns to get his wife back from Calvin. And you really don't want to skip a c realinematic experience. Quentin always delivers and this film is no exception. "I like the way you die boy". The use of the N-WORD shines all the way till the end. It ranks up with Tarantino's best, which is sort of hard to do with his canon of work. It's one of the very best in it's genre and eclipses the cool factor.
Christoph Waltz and Quentin have been together in Inglorious Basterds too. Waltz has been nominated twice for the Acadamey Award and he has won them on both occasions. The head of cinematography, Robert Richardson, and the entire sound team (Harry Cohen, Tony Lamberti, Branden Spencer, Dror Mohar, Wylie Stateman, Michael Minkler, and Michael Wilhoit) deserve special praise as well.
The background music, the art, the chemistry was absoultley perfect. Well, If you haven't seen any Tarantino movie yet, start with this one. It's an absolute peach. Stop reading the review, go watch the bloddy movie.
My Rating- 8/10.
