“Daniel ka Day-Lewis ho gaya. There is blood!”- My favorite line from the movie, sums up everything.

ANIL KAPOOR IS A GODDAMN ARTIST!! WHAT AN ACTOR!! 

I always look forward to a Vikramaditya Motwane film. He always tries to do something new and there's no guessing what he's gonna come up with next. AK vs AK is another experimental but fun film to watch. This movie is an indication of how and where the Indian cinema is heading towards.



The plot revolves around a talented director who hates PM Modi and loves abuses and violence like Tarantino and thinks himself of as the INDIAN MARTIN SCORCESE, and the other is a past his prime movie star who feels he is younger than his supremely untalented actor daughter. After a public feud with Anil Kapoor, Anurag Kashyap decides to take revenge by kidnapping his daughter and films Kapoor's search for her in real time.



AK vs AK has its handful of inside jokes but Motwane doesn't stop there as he also examines the effect of being famous and the relationship stars have with fans. During his search, Kapoor is constantly asked by the public for selfies and autographs and also has to perform for them before he gets the answers he needs to find Sonam Kapoor. It further shows how the public have the power. Despite enjoying the film, here were some flaws present. By the third act the film eventually loses steam and the end twist did not work for me.

For one, its the sluggish pace which is to be blamed. The film would've been a thrilling watch at just one hour fifteen minutes instead of close to two hours runtime. That bit of self indulgence couldve been easily avoided by Kashyap.



Secondly, those constant abuses and swear words get monotonous after a point. For instance, that two minute scene where Anil's son Harsh repeats the F word in front of him some twenty five times is not just needless but in totally bad taste.

Even with these flaws, one has to give it to the actor AK who is simply fantastic whether bashing up the director AK or frustratingly dancing to his iconic Lakhan song on a roadside pandal. Anil Kapoor is awesome as ever and there is no doubt about that!!



Unfortunately, the same cant be said of the other AK who appears one dimensional here. Cant blame him - Anurag Kashyap is always a better director than an actor. Atleast, he is much better than Sonam Kapoor. Harshvarrdhan Kapoor actually did really well for his part, didn't expect him to deliever that good acting product.
AK vs AK Between Anil Kapoor and Anurag Kashyap Makes a Cringing,Intruging and Massive Great Clash To Watch out For. Watch it for Anil Fucking Kapoor.

And in order to fully appreciate the movie, you gotta watch it more than once. Martin Scorsese and Robert De Niro yet again collaborate to present a masterpiece.  The best thing about The Irishman is that it keeps you on the edge despite being a 210 minutes long movie.
