Flora- "So, It's not a horror story"?

Narrator- "No". "It's a love story".

Not as good as the "The Haunting of the Hill House", but it definitely lived up to its potential. If you're looking to be terrified out of your wits in the same manner that The Haunting of Hill House accomplished, you won't find such scares here. Just because people didn't expect this to be a ghost love instead of horror, this series should've been advertising for what it is and not for what people were expecting.

Bly Manor is a lot less reliant on using little-known or unknown ghosts to drive the plot forward. You won't find jump-scares here. This show is all about the horrors of human nature. Don't expect quick explanations of anything. Do expect to see lots of ramifications. It's all about the slow-burn here. All in all, the show had some loveable character moments but ultimately lets you down with not being able to stick its landing in the climax of the story, failing to justify the unbearably long scenes that serve no purpose other than to over complicate the plot and not giving the characters the full endings they deserved after so much build up.
I thought the ending to the Bly Manor ghost part was a bit too cliched. But still the team did really well to get me hooked up right through the end. Just like Hill House, this gets a bit too emotional at the end.

As one of the characters say, this is a ghostly love story and that came out really strongly for me - the ending was really touching and it showed all types of love between different people - family, friends and romantic love, as well as toxic love.

My Rating- 7/10
