Benoit Blanc- “Best judge of character is a dog. I've found that to be true.”
'Knives Out' is one of those movies in which the viewer feels that anyone could be the murderer.
The movie has a power-packed performance from Ana De Armas, Toni Collette, and Chris Evans. Also, very well written and directed by Rian Johnson. The movie drives itself from a murder mystery to a complete thriller.
The Sound of the 85th birthday celebration of a great Crime Novelist: Harlam Thrombey (Christopher Plummer), and then being uncharacteristically killed by one of his own family members is a joy to watch.
"My House My Rules My Coffee"
This surprising film has high marks in all the production core values. Director Rian Johnson gives a glitche free stately mystery with peacock flourish.
The American baroque style details are grounded finessed
emphasized in highly selective weighty clunky and noteworthy Tchotchkes!
Polished carved statues heads sculptures puppets in metal marble rosewood paper mache-
-inside in mezzanined library and outside on a pine tree landscape
Quiessential posed cherub faces whimsically frozen non plussed...
The cinematography is flattering. Like a 1960 under lit Polaroid snapshot with Blurple pink lavender hues and plum tones. Minimalist accent lighting of campfire golden lights at night in sconces, tulip chandeliers and daylight streaming in through porthole windows.
Everybody looks gorgeous.
The Last Jedi wasn't the greatest Rian Johnson's movie but he has my respect because he has just as quickly redeemed himself with this sharp, witty, smart and stylish production, throwing a light up on his true accomplishments as a talented film maker and risk taker.
Amongst the A-list cast, every one acted well and felt convinving in their part but Daniel Craig, Christopher Plummer and especially Ana De Armas outdid others and stole the show. Daniel's southern accent was difficult at some parts but his wit was well projected. Chris Evans was amazing too on his role of a spoiled playboy and son. His reactions to tense moments are worth mentioning.
The climax is tight and will suprise most of the viewers. It was well revealed and like every crime thriller movie, Detective Blanc reveals what we have missed and underlines the loopholes in every character's flawed stories.
Watch it for the love of Cinema and for the amazing work of the actors and the director. The story's plot is the star of the movie.
My Rating- 8/10
